Next-Gen 2025 Kia Seltos Spotted Testing on Indian Roads

The next-generation Kia Seltos is seen testing on Indian roads for the first time in its SP3 Proto avatar. This highly awaited SUV is expected to be unveiled globally and then later in the second half of 2025 in India. Living up to its promising pedigree since its launch in 2019, the Seltos will aim to repeat its winning formula through upgrades to features, hybrid powertrains, and a modernized design with its successor.

The Seltos retains its rugged, boxy silhouette, but recent spy shots show it will have major design updates (via Power Stroke PS). The front and rear bumpers, grille, and lighting elements gain a more modern aesthetic that is in line with Kia’s EV lineup. The tail lamps closely resemble those on the Kia EV5, hinting at a flush superimposing of ICE and EV aesthetics. New alloy wheels feature on the side profile, whereas the fascia will likely offer a cleaner, more sophisticated look to complement the Seltos’ premium appeal.

On the inside, the next-generation Seltos will sport a redesigned cabin with dual-tone seats, orange accents, and redesigned door trims as seen in the spy shots. Ambient lighting inspired by the Kia EV3 will elevate the cabin’s ambiance, and a multi-layered dashboard with higher-quality materials could help elevate the interior’s sophistication. Inside, as we’ve seen from the previous spy renders, the cockpit features a new two-prong steering wheel that could approach the cabin of the car.

The updated Seltos should continue to provide its existing petrol and diesel engines, alongside a hybrid variant that’s likely to be sourced from the Hyundai Kona Hybrid. Working in tandem with the 1.6-liter engine for 141 hp, hybrid, and turbo options should improve performance and efficiency. There’s also an e-AWD variant for international markets, allowing it to cater to European tastes. The hybrid powertrain option has the potential to shake things up in the segment, and while India-specific details are still a closely guarded secret, this could be a huge game changer.

More than 600,000 Seltos have been sold in India to date, and Kia is still redefining the SUV segment. Technical specifications aside, the new Seltos, with diverse powertrain options and its feature-loaded interiors, will build upon its legacy and take the fight to the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota HyRyder.
