2024 MTV Europe Music Awards: BTS’ Jimin, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and LE SSERAFIM Shine
With a successful and impactful solo career under his belt, Jimin took home the Best K-pop award that also recognized him for his significant solo contribution with Who being the number 2 album. The album certainly paid off, with the likes of Who topping global charts including Billboard and the UK’s Official Charts, and his victory reflects this.
At the EMAs, BLACKPINKs Lisa had a fantastic year and two big awards. She took home the Biggest Fans award and was nominated for Best Collaboration in recognition of her Top 10 hit New Woman with Rosalia. This is part of a larger reason why she continues to be acknowledged for her strength as an artist in both solo and group activities.
Earlier in 2024, Lisa had already made headlines when she won the Best K-pop Award at the MTV VMAs for her track ROCKSTAR. Along with these two stars is LE SSERAFIM, a five-member girl group that debuted in 2022, but received the Best Push award at the EMAs. Their performance, which was full of energy at the ceremony, proved that they are becoming more popular worldwide.
After releasing its fourth extended play CRAZY and making its debut at Coachella in April, this group has had a successful year so far showing that they are a force to be reckoned with on the global stage. Meanwhile, Jimin and Lisa continued to make waves in 2024 with their solo releases.
Jimin’s album MUSE marked his comeback in July, featuring tracks like Who that captivated fans globally. With the continued success of K-pop acts like Jimin, Lisa, and LE SSERAFIM, it’s clear that 2024 is a defining year for K-pop’s international dominance.
