Andreas Schjelderup to join Benfica from Nordsjælland for £12.5 million

Norwegian starlet Andreas Schjelderup is set to join Benfica. He was a target for Liverpool prior to the transfer to Benfica, and he has made the move from Norwegian club Nordsjælland.

There were concrete talks between his entourage and Liverpool. But, ultimately, he decided that a move to the Portuguese team was the best move for him. The most obvious deduction would be more first team opportunities for him – since he is showing a lot of potential.

Andreas Schjelderup to join Benfica – Done deal

Benfica will pay £12.5 million for the youngster, without any further bonuses. But, the deal they have agreed with Nordsjælland includes a 20% sell-on clause – which means they will be entitled to the agreed percentage of any future fee.

Schjelderup has been in quite impressive form this season, scoring ten goals in 17 league games. Interestingly, the transfer will see him become the most expensive Norwegian teenager after Erling Haaland who joined RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund and is now one of the best in the world at Manchester City.

Brentford and Liverpool were trying to get their hands on the talented youngster – but could not offer guaranteed first team minutes. The medical assessment for Andreas Schjelderup’s move has been completed, and the 2004-born attacker has signed a contract until 2028 with the Portuguese club.

Now, the elite clubs will be keeping close watch on his time at Benfica and see if they can prize him away in the coming years if he can perform well.
