Steven Bergwijn demands to leave Spurs in 2022

Steven Bergwijn has announced that he wants to leave Spurs this summer. Over the last few weeks, Ajax have been trying to sign the winger and bring him back to the Netherlands. But they have not been able to reach an agreement with the London club just yet.

The player publicly stating that he wants a move away will make it much easier for the Eredivisie champions to do business with Tottenham, who have a history of being difficult.

Steven Bergwijn says he wants to leave Spurs now

Here is what the player had to say: “Have I talked to [his agent] about my future? I’m with Oranje now and then we’ll have a look. It would be nice if there was clarity soon. I just have to go play. But I want to leave Spurs now, that’s for sure. Whether it is important that my new club plays in the Champions League? That’s not even top priority. Though it would be nice. What’s important is that I’m going to play.

“I wasn’t allowed to leave Spurs in the winter and then I didn’t have any problems. The last few months I was hardly looked after there. Now I want to play somewhere weekly.”

With the arrival of Dejan Kulusevski, Steven Bergwijn has been down in the pecking order and has barely been given time on the pitch. After Spurs blocked his move to Ajax in the January transfer window, it now seems that they are open to letting him go.
