Apple looking to launch a new Hardware Subscription model for its iPhones and iPads

The Cupertino giant has come a long way from manufacturing iMac or Mac Pros to a wide range of iPhones throughout the last decade. What it did understand after 2015 is that it has to bifurcate from being a product manufacturing company to a complete ecosystem provider, focussing more on the software as a service model in the last few years.

Well, it has indeed worked well for Apple because most people tend to use Apple’s own software services over others on its own devices. Now, a new report from Bloomberg suggests Apple is looking to let users buy iPhone and iPad hardware “similar to paying a monthly app fee.”

So, changing the way how you buy Apple hardware and helping people buy Apple products by charging monthly fees will be a revolutionary idea. Indeed this new program is described as Apple’s “biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales.”

The company has already had various financing options, iPhone Upgrade Progam and exchange services, but now with this Hardware Subscription model which could launch as soon as later this year or at the start of 2023, Apple looks to completely dominate the market.

The service would be Apple’s biggest push yet into automatically recurring sales, allowing users to subscribe to hardware for the first time — rather than just digital services. But the project is still in development, said the people, who asked not to identify because the initiative hasn’t been announced, Bloomberg News reports.

For a 3 trillion dollar company like Apple with a wealth of goodwill, launching this kind of service will surely work for them. Also, this new hardware subscription service could tie into Apple One bundles and AppleCare subscriptions as well.

The program would differ from an instalment program in that the monthly charge wouldn’t be the price of the device split across 12 or 24 months. Rather, it would be a yet-to-be-determined monthly fee that depends on which device the user chooses.

The company has discussed allowing users of the program to swap out their devices for new models when fresh hardware comes out. It historically releases new versions of its major devices, including the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, once a year.

Well, as these rumours show this seems more of an internal idea that Apple is working upon and with time if the Cupertino giant is really serious about this we will get more info for sure!
