Zoom Phone India Expansion: Chennai’s Tech Hub Embraces the Future

In the heart of Tamil Nadu, where ancient temples stand alongside gleaming skyscrapers, a new chapter in India’s technological story is unfolding. Chennai, often called the “Detroit of India” for its automotive prowess, is now accelerating into the fast lane of digital innovation. And at the forefront of this transformation is Zoom, with its groundbreaking Zoom Phone service now available to businesses across the city.

Chennai’s Rise as India’s Silicon Valley: The Perfect Launchpad for Zoom Phone

Chennai’s journey from a traditional manufacturing hub to a thriving tech ecosystem is nothing short of remarkable. With over 780,000 IT professionals calling the city home and software exports reaching a staggering ₹1,11,179 crore in the 2017-18 fiscal year, Chennai has firmly established itself as India’s third-largest software exporter, hot on the heels of Bangalore and Hyderabad.

It’s in this vibrant landscape that Zoom has chosen to expand its Zoom Phone service, marking a significant milestone in its India journey. Following the successful launch in Maharashtra last October, Zoom’s arrival in Chennai is not just a business move; it’s a testament to the city’s growing importance in the global tech arena.

Velchamy Sankarlingam, President of Product and Engineering at Zoom, couldn’t contain his excitement: “We are thrilled to bring Zoom Phone to Chennai, one of India’s most dynamic technology business hubs. The city’s thriving ecosystem of local and global enterprises will benefit from the simplicity, scalability, and AI-first capabilities that Zoom Phone delivers.”
