Two weeks before what would have been one of Indian cinema’s biggest box office face-offs, Yash and the makers of Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups made a call that’s equal parts bold and wise. The March 19 release is officially off the calendar. June 4, 2026 is the new date — and the reasoning behind the shift says a lot about how seriously the team is treating this film.

Why Did Toxic Postpone Its Release?
This wasn’t purely about dodging Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2, though that was certainly on everyone’s radar — a director had already warned both films would hurt each other’s business. The primary trigger was the escalating tensions in the Middle East. Toxic’s major distribution partner for the Gulf region, Phars Films, advised against releasing at this time, and the makers listened.

The Gulf is not a secondary market for a film like this. A global cast, production in Kannada and English, and a clearly pan-India ambition — Toxic was built to travel. Releasing into instability in one of its most critical markets would have been a costly mistake. Even the planned March 8 trailer launch in Bangalore was quietly shelved. The first single, Tabaahi featuring Kiara Advani, was dropped as an audio-only release rather than the full music video rollout originally planned.
June 4 — A Much Cleaner Window
The new date puts Toxic in a considerably more favourable position. The Eid 2026 blockbuster rush will have settled, screens will be open, and the film gets to enter on its own terms rather than fighting for attention on multiple fronts simultaneously. For a film of this scale and ambition, that breathing room could make all the difference.
