Xiaomi is about to break a six-year streak. According to Weibo tipster Experience more, the Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro have been internally pushed forward by four months, pointing to a tentative May 2026 launch — far earlier than the usual September window. The likely reason? Rising global RAM prices, with an early launch helping Xiaomi lock in pricing before further cost increases.

Internal codenames for the two phones have been leaked as “chagall” (17T — model 2602DPT53G/P12A) and “warhol” (17T Pro — 2602EPTC0G/P12U). All specs below are unconfirmed — treat as expected.

Why the Early Launch Is a Bigger Deal Than It Seems
Xiaomi has launched its T-series in September every year for the past six years without fail. A May 2026 launch would be the first deviation from that pattern — and the timing isn’t arbitrary.
Rising RAM and NAND flash prices are rippling across the smartphone industry, with analysts projecting further hikes through mid-2026. By launching in May, Xiaomi can price the 17T series against current component costs rather than September’s, and also use it to gauge mid-range market response before committing to the flagship Xiaomi 18 strategy later in the year.

The chipset split is also significant. Moving the Pro from last year’s Dimensity 8300 Ultra to the Dimensity 9500 — a flagship-tier chip — would be a major generational leap, potentially putting the 17T Pro in direct competition with Snapdragon 8 Elite devices at a lower price point. Combined with Leica cameras and a 6,000mAh battery, it would be one of the most competitive mid-premium phones of 2026 if the pricing holds.
