Akshay Kumar’s Barefoot Tradition — Ganesh Acharya Explains

Choreographer Ganesh Acharya revealed in an exclusive interview that both he and Akshay Kumar consciously avoid wearing footwear whenever they work on devotional songs dedicated to God. He stated: “Whenever we work on the songs of God, we take care not to wear slippers or shoes. When the name of Lord Ram, Lord Shiva, or any other God is mentioned, it doesn’t look good to dance in shoes. Akshay and I always take care of this.”

It’s a small detail — but one that speaks volumes about the duo’s reverence and professional integrity.

Not the First Time — A Quiet Tradition for Years

Ganesh Acharya confirmed that this is not a one-time gesture. He pointed to their earlier collaboration on Bam Bhole Full from Laxmii Bomb, noting that neither he nor Akshay wore shoes in that song either — and that across many devotional tracks over the years, this conscious practice has remained a consistent part of their creative process.

In an era where Bollywood is often criticised for chasing trends over authenticity, this is the kind of quiet, principled tradition that fans genuinely appreciate — and it shows in the song’s reception.

Bhooth Bangla marks the much-anticipated reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after years. The horror-comedy features an ensemble cast including Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, Mithila Palkar, Jisshu U Sengupta, Manoj Joshi, and Rajpal Yadav, and is produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, and Akshay Kumar himself — with a theatrical release scheduled for April 10, 2026.
