| Film | Haiwaan |
| Lead Cast | Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan |
| Director | Priyadarshan |
| Week 1 Total | ₹8.68 crore |
| Day 1 vs Day 8 | ₹2.79 cr → ₹66,838 |
Two big stars couldn’t save it. Haiwaan, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, has completed its first week in theatres with a total of just ₹8.68 crore — a number that would normally represent a strong single day for a film carrying this much star power.
The Day-by-Day Collapse
The drop-off has been almost uninterrupted since day one:
| Day | Collection |
|---|---|
| Day 1 (Friday) | ₹2.79 crore |
| Day 2 (Saturday) | ₹2.13 crore |
| Day 3 (Sunday) | ₹1.58 crore |
| Day 4 (Monday) | ₹64 lakh |
| Day 5 (Tuesday) | ₹59 lakh |
| Day 6 (Wednesday) | ₹47 lakh |
| Day 7 (Thursday) | ₹48 lakh |
| Day 8 (Friday) | ₹66,838 |
That’s a 98.62% drop from opening day to the start of week two — one of the steepest collapses for a multi-starrer release this year. We tracked the slide as it happened, from a weak ₹2.50 crore opening day through the Day 2 struggle to the point where, by Day 4, the total had crashed to ₹7.25 crore with single-day earnings down to ₹50 lakh.
Why Haiwaan Fell Apart So Fast
Word of mouth turned against the film almost immediately. Reviews flagged a disjointed screenplay, forgettable music, and a climax that didn’t land — problems that no amount of star power could paper over once audiences started talking. As we noted when the freefall began, two superstars weren’t enough to carry a script this shaky.
Competition didn’t help either. Mirzapur: The Movie was still pulling in solid numbers in its second week, and Hanuman Ansh continued its remarkably steady six-week run — both siphoning off the audience Haiwaan needed. Our pre-release forecast comparing it against Drishyam 3’s box office potential now looks especially prescient.
What’s Next
With Week 1 closing under ₹9 crore, Haiwaan is unlikely to clear even the modest ₹10 crore lifetime mark analysts initially floated as a bare-minimum benchmark. It’s a rough outcome for a film that opened with 10,000 advance tickets sold on Day 1 and real pre-release buzz.
FAQ

Poor word of mouth over the screenplay and climax, combined with strong competition from Mirzapur: The Movie and Hanuman Ansh.
Q: Will Haiwaan recover in week 2?
Unlikely — Day 8 collections had already fallen to under ₹1 lakh, a sign that theatres are cutting shows.
Q: Who stars in Haiwaan?
Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan lead the film, directed by Priyadarshan.
