Hey binge-watchers! If you’ve ever wanted a gangster saga where women call every shot, Akka just dropped and it’s pure fire. Netflix India’s latest YRF Entertainment collab hit the platform worldwide on October 30, 2026, and it’s already sparking debates. Picture this: a fictional South Indian city in the 1980s ruled by an all-powerful sisterhood. No kings, no dons in suits—just fierce “Akkas” (elder sisters) controlling the gold trade and underworld. Then an outsider crashes the party. Chaos, blood, and betrayal ensue. I’m hooked already.1

Written and directed by debutant Dharmaraj Shetty, this five-episode Hindi period drama flips the crime genre on its head. Executive producers Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre, and Akshaye Widhani bring that signature YRF polish. The title itself—meaning “elder sister” in Tamil, Kannada, and Telugu—signals the deep sisterhood (and rivalries) at its core.

Keerthy Suresh shines as Bhavani, the progressive leader of Pernuru’s matriarchal clan—her first web series after the buzz around Dorothy. Opposite her, Netflix favorite Radhika Apte plays Rudra, the ambitious outsider who refuses to play by the rules and sparks a full-blown power war. Supporting turns from Tanvi Azmi (Tribhanga) and Mahesh Manjrekar add extra weight. For more on Keerthy’s rise from National Award winner to pan-India force, check her Wikipedia page.1

Early reviews are mixed—praise for the leads and visuals, some gripes about the script feeling familiar—but the premise alone makes it binge-worthy. Episodes build from “The Sisterhood” to an explosive finale, full of revenge, shifting alliances, and that satisfying “women-run-this” energy.
