Cricketer Prithvi Shaw is in the spotlight for reasons off the pitch today, after his fiancée Akriti Agarwal posted an emotional, cryptic message on her Instagram Stories that quickly set social media ablaze with cheating speculation.

So who exactly is Akriti Agarwal? She’s an actress and prominent influencer known for her strong digital presence and her frequent public appearances alongside Shaw. Over the past couple of years, she’s regularly accompanied him to high-profile industry events and festive gatherings, becoming a familiar face in his public life well before their relationship turned into an engagement.

The couple’s love story first caught public attention in 2025, when they were spotted together during festive celebrations. From there, their bond grew steadily in the public eye, culminating in an official engagement announcement earlier this year. Photos from the proposal showed Shaw down on one knee, presenting a ring to Akriti — with the former India Under-19 captain marking the moment with a cricket-themed caption calling her his “perfect innings.”

That’s what makes the events of July 5 so unexpected. Screenshots of Akriti’s now-deleted Instagram Story began circulating, in which she expressed disbelief over being repeatedly hurt by an unnamed person — sparking immediate assumptions that she was referring to Shaw. Despite the buzz, neither has issued a public statement, and their joint engagement post remains live on both their profiles.

For fans following India’s cricket stars off the field, stories like this are a reminder of how quickly social media speculation can spiral around public figures — often well ahead of any facts.
