Prithvi Shaw & Akriti Agarwal Call Off Engagement: Here’s Why Their “Perfect Innings” Story Ended

Six months after a romantic engagement announcement that had fans celebrating, cricketer Prithvi Shaw and social media influencer Akriti Agarwal have officially parted ways. The news, confirmed by Agarwal herself, has left many surprised — especially after she had publicly dismissed breakup rumours just two months earlier.

Prithvi Shaw & Akriti Agarwal Timeline

How It All Started

Shaw announced his engagement to Agarwal on March 8, 2026, sharing photos from their ceremony with a heartfelt caption about their relationship moving from the cricket field into a lifetime together. The announcement drew warm wishes from fans and even Shaw’s IPL franchise, Delhi Capitals.

In July, a cryptic Instagram post from Agarwal referencing cheating sparked speculation that trouble was brewing between the couple. She quickly clarified that the post was about her friends and had nothing to do with Shaw, insisting the two were still very much engaged and that the rumours were affecting his reputation unfairly.

Why They Eventually Called It Off?

Despite that reassurance, Agarwal confirmed on September 17 that she and Shaw had mutually decided to separate. In her statement, she explained that the decision came after the two recognised they had different goals, responsibilities, and circumstances shaping their futures — not because they had stopped caring for one another.

She emphasized that there was still love and respect between them, but that their paths could no longer move forward together, adding that she wished both of them peace and happiness ahead. Agarwal also requested that fans and followers avoid speculating further about the reasons behind the split, and has since removed engagement photos from her social media and unfollowed Shaw.

What’s Next For Prithvi Shaw?

On the cricket front, Shaw’s journey has been anything but smooth in recent years — he went unsold in the IPL 2025 auction and initially struggled to find a buyer in the IPL 2026 mini-auction before Delhi Capitals picked him up in the final accelerated round, giving him another shot at reviving his IPL career.
