Former Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has made a strategic investment in Metasports Interactive, the company behind the mobile cricket strategy game Hitwicket. The partnership aims to propel Hitwicket towards a target of 100 million downloads within the next three years.
Metasports Interactive, co-founded by Kashyap Reddy and Keerti Singh, launched Hitwicket in 2020. Since its inception, the game has amassed over 20 million users across 120 countries. The company reported a 100% revenue growth in the past six months, with players spending an average of 51 minutes daily on the platform.
Hitwicket differentiates itself by emphasizing strategic decision-making and tactical gameplay in competitive multiplayer cricket. This focus on cricketing strategy reportedly influenced Tendulkar’s investment decision. Tendulkar is also slated to feature in Hitwicket’s in-game experiences, content, and brand activations.
Sachin Tendulkar Cites Strategic Depth as Investment Rationale
Commenting on his involvement, Sachin Tendulkar stated, “Hitwicket captured my attention for its integration of cricket’s strategic thinking into gameplay. Cricket has always involved reading the bowler, assessing the field, and deciding the right approach for every ball. Hitwicket captures that decision-making, going beyond reflexes to recreate how a cricketer thinks in the middle. The game translates that strategic dimension into an engaging experience for players. I enjoyed playing the game and believe in what the team is building, which makes the association feel natural.”

Kashyap Reddy, Co-Founder and CEO of Metasports Interactive (https://metasports.in/), noted that the game’s strategic emphasis is a core differentiator, a quality Tendulkar recognized. He added that interactions with Tendulkar are providing insights into elite cricketing thought processes, which will inform further game development. Reddy highlighted that the game’s 20 million players, who average 51 minutes daily, demonstrate the engagement this approach generates. He concluded that Tendulkar’s endorsement, combined with recent capital, would enable the company to expand its cricket strategy offerings globally.
This investment follows a USD 20 million user acquisition funding round from London-based Metica in April 2026. Metica’s funding decision was based on Hitwicket’s monetization metrics, player retention, and user acquisition data. The company aims for Hitwicket to evolve from an Indian-focused game into a global strategy title, reflecting current trends in the mobile gaming industry and broader sports tech investments, as reported by TechnoSports.
