Khaleel Ellis Trade: CSK Send Two Players to SRH

On November 5, 2026, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad completed a four-player swap ahead of IPL 2027. Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards join CSK, while Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis move to SRH. The deal addresses injury gaps that shaped both teams’ recent campaigns.

What does the Khaleel Ellis trade include?

CSK get Livingstone and Edwards from SRH; Khaleel and Ellis go the other way. The deal is confirmed, and Livingstone’s CSK fee is ₹6 crore, down from his ₹13 crore SRH fee.

Edwards joins CSK on his existing ₹3 crore fee. Khaleel stays at ₹4.8 crore, and Ellis at ₹2 crore; both keep their existing fees. This is a four-player swap, not a one-for-one deal. Livingstone’s reduced fee is the clearest financial change. Next, here’s what the arrivals and departures mean for each squad.

Why could Livingstone and Edwards matter to CSK?

Livingstone gives CSK a new option as they build their squad for IPL 2027. Edwards arrives on an unchanged fee of ₹3 crore. Neither player, however, completed an IPL 2026 campaign: Edwards missed the season with a foot injury, and Livingstone reportedly had limited opportunities at SRH.

That leaves CSK with questions about availability and preparation, but it doesn’t guarantee either player a particular role. The trade also sends away two players with recent injury absences. CSK have selection decisions to make; those departures could matter just as much for SRH.

What do Khaleel and Ellis bring to SRH?

Khaleel played five matches for CSK before a quadriceps injury sidelined him. Ellis, meanwhile, missed IPL 2026 with a hamstring injury. Both join SRH on their existing fees: ₹4.8 crore for Khaleel and ₹2 crore for Ellis.

The confirmed details cover their previous injuries and the terms of the move, but don’t say when either player will be available or what role SRH has planned. For supporters, the immediate question is whether the new signings can return to action and contribute across a full season. The teams’ completed November 5 match offers a separate snapshot of their on-field contest. For more detail, see BBC Sport Cricket.

What does the November 5 scoreline show?

CSK scored 182/3 in 20 overs, while SRH finished on 178/6 in their 20 overs. CSK won by four runs, with the teams separated by that margin at the end of the chase.

Those are the verified team totals; there are no individual batting or bowling figures here to identify a decisive partnership, over or player. Keep the match score separate from the four-player trade: it records the completed contest, while the exchange sets up squad changes for IPL 2027. The next confirmed milestones are team retention and the mini-auction.

What happens next for the four players?

The reported deadline for the IPL 2027 retention list is November 17, 2026. A mini-auction is scheduled for December 16 in Goa. Both franchises have a short period to assess their squads after the exchange, though the available details don’t confirm any further retention decisions or player availability.

CSK will have Livingstone and Edwards on their books at the stated fees; SRH will have Khaleel and Ellis at theirs. Fitness is a practical consideration for both teams given the injury history, but the confirmed information includes no new medical update. The retention deadline is the next listed checkpoint, followed by the mini-auction. Bottom line: The Khaleel Ellis trade sends Livingstone and Edwards to CSK and Khaleel and Ellis to SRH. The deal’s value will depend on how the four players return to the IPL picture. For more detail, see BBC Sport.

Trade confirmed: CSK receive Liam Livingstone and Jack Edwards; SRH receive Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis.
