Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 Time Jump: Matt

Matt Murdock has fought corrupt cops, crime lords, and his own conscience. Now he is about to face something tougher: eight months in a prison full of people he put there. According to The Direct, Charlie Cox has confirmed a major time jump for Daredevil: Born Again Season 3, and it reshapes everything we know about the show’s next chapter.

What Cox Revealed?

Speaking with ScreenRant, Cox said Matt has made peace with revealing his secret identity. What he is not ready for is life inside a prison with many of the people he sent there. Cox described how that experience forces Matt to confront the failings of the penal system and to question what happens to people after he does his job. In his words, eight months of that would take a toll on a mind like Matt’s.

That is a fascinating shift for a hero whose whole identity rests on justice. The Daredevil: Born Again series has always blurred the line between the courtroom and the street, and this arc sounds like it will push that tension even further.

Who Is Back, and What Has Changed?

Character	Where they stand
Matt Murdock / Daredevil	Imprisoned for eight months; his identity is public
Wilson Fisk / Kingpin	Forced out as Mayor; reportedly rebuilding from exile in Puerto Rico before returning to New York
Bullseye	Free with a clean slate; returning in a more comic-accurate suit
Karen Page	Navigating Hell’s Kitchen without Matt
Heather Glenn	Expected to fully embrace the Muse mantle
Jessica Jones	Supporting role; her daughter’s story may deepen
Luke Cage	Larger role expected, with darker overseas work in his past
Iron Fist	Finn Jones expected to return, first MCU appearance since 2018
Elektra	Elodie Yung expected back, first Marvel work since The Defenders

Note that many of these returns are described as expected rather than officially detailed, so treat specifics as reported.

Why This Jump Matters?

The first two seasons were heavily reworked during production, with the originally planned first season split in half and the show fully tied to the Netflix Defenders Saga. Season 1 was later confirmed to take place seven years after the Netflix story ended. Adding an eight-month jump for Season 3 gives the writers room to change relationships, power balances, and even characters’ moral compasses without showing every step.

For Karen, Matt’s absence means growing on her own. For Fisk, it is a rare low point where he has to claw his way back. For Matt, the jump means returning to a city that now knows his face.

A Reunion Years in the Making

Perhaps the biggest draw is the possible gathering of the Defenders. With Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Elektra all linked to the season, fans of the original Netflix era may finally see the old team under one roof again, now with older, more mature versions of these heroes.
