Avengers: Doomsday – Overview

Detail	Info
Film	Avengers: Doomsday
Release date	December 18, 2026
Character	Ghost (Ava Starr)
Actor	Hannah John-Kamen
MCU debut	Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018)
Team	New Avengers, introduced in Thunderbolts (2025)
Confirmed	Cast announcement in March of last year
Issue	Largely absent from official promotional merchandise

Why Fans Are Noticing?

Ghost debuted as an antagonist in Ant-Man and the Wasp before joining the New Avengers in Thunderbolts. She even got her own director’s chair at the film’s big cast announcement, which was met with real fanfare. Yet since then, several campaigns have skipped her, while teammates like Yelena Belova and Bucky Barnes sit front and centre.

Where Ghost Has Been Left Out?

Promo item	Ghost’s status
Marvel Legends, first wave (September)	Not included
Marvel Legends, second wave (October)	Not included
LEGO sets (five total)	No minifigure, though Yelena, Red Guardian, Bucky and Sentry all feature
Funko Pop! wave	Left out while teammates appear
Trailers	Only brief background glimpses
25 character posters	Absent from all of them
“Silence Your Phones” theatre ad	Present, but at the very back of the cinema

She did appear in Andy Park’s concept illustration, standing with Red Guardian, Yelena, Bucky and John Walker, so Marvel hasn’t erased her entirely.

Is This a Pattern?

Sadly, yes. The report points out that Ghost has been sidelined before:

2018: Hasbro skipped her in the Ant-Man and the Wasp Marvel Legends wave. Her first figure came a year later in a 2019 two-pack.
Thunderbolts: Hasbro and Funko again prioritised other team members.
Doomsday: the same pattern of the reformed villain being left out continues.

What Could It Mean?

The article raises a few possibilities, and all of them are speculation:

Her role may be small. She could simply have a minor part in a huge cast.
She may not survive. Rumours say several heroes are earmarked to die, and Doom is built as an overwhelming threat.
It may not matter. Heavy promo doesn’t guarantee a big role. Taskmaster was all over Thunderbolts marketing and was killed off early.

So less merchandise isn’t proof of anything. Treat all of this as fan theory until the film arrives.

Character	Actor	Notes
Nightcrawler	Alan Cumming	Not in any trailer shot yet, though he has some merch, including a LEGO minifigure
Red Guardian	David Harbour	A few trailer moments, LEGO and Funko releases, but little push
Sentry	Lewis Pullman	Small presence despite being among the most powerful characters
John Walker (U.S. Agent)	Wyatt Russell	On posters and some merchandise, but no action figure yet

Marvel appears to be centring its campaign on the biggest names and Doctor Doom, since the film has the largest cast the studio has ever assembled. That focus is unlikely to change as release day approaches. For more on the film, see Avengers: Doomsday on Wikipedia.
