What Happens in Episode 15?

Watson and the fellows race to save the life of a young woman who needs a lifesaving kidney donation, while Sherlock returns to Pittsburgh to help crack unsolved cases. Given that Sherlock — played by the magnificent Robert Carlyle — has been a haunting, elusive presence throughout Season 2, his return here feels significant. Whether this sets up a meaningful resolution or lays the groundwork for one of the remaining final episodes remains to be seen.

The Cancellation That Stings

The timing couldn’t be more bittersweet. On March 27, 2026, CBS cancelled Watson after two seasons, just as the show was airing its penultimate stretch of episodes. The second season was originally set to consist of 20 episodes MovieWeb, meaning several episodes will still air as the network sees the show through to its conclusion despite the cancellation decision.

As one of CBS’s most ambitious medical drama series in recent years, Watson reimagined the iconic Dr. John Watson from Arthur Conan Doyle’s universe as a contemporary clinician running a rare disorders clinic in Pittsburgh — and brought the beloved Sherlock Holmes mythology into a heartfelt modern setting.

The cancellation announcement came just days after Season 2 was delivering some of its most emotionally layered episodes, making it all the more difficult for fans to process.
