The ton is buzzing. Netflix has officially confirmed the second Bridgerton spinoff, a limited series about the young Lady Violet and her romance with Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. It was announced with a Lady Whistledown letter on social media, and fans have been hoping for this for a long time.

What Is the Story About?
The series will follow Violet’s early life and her romance with Edmund before she became the Bridgerton matriarch. Unlike Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, this spinoff has source material to draw on. Julia Quinn’s novella Violet in Bloom tells the backstory of the couple.
Why Now?
Violet’s storyline in Season 4 was hugely popular. She became romantically involved with Marcus Anderson, played by Daniel Francis, and viewers wanted to know more about her past. The show has only touched on it briefly so far. The most memorable moment is in Season 2, Episode 3, where Edmund, played by Rupert Evans, dies from a bee sting while out with young Anthony picking hyacinths for Violet.
Showrunner Jess Brownell had said in March 2026 that she’d love to see a young Violet spinoff, but that it was up to Shonda Rhimes. Now it’s official.
Who’s Behind It?
Bridgerton executive producer Shonda Rhimes will co-write, showrun and executive produce with Nicholas Nardini, who worked on Queen Charlotte. Director Tom Verica and Betsy Beers are also executive producers. It’s the first time Rhimes has written a show since she created Queen Charlotte.
What’s Still Unknown?
Netflix hasn’t announced casting or a release date. The report is still developing, so expect more details soon.
