Get your calendars marked. The trailer for one of Bollywood’s most nostalgically charged films of 2026 is arriving on May 21, and honestly, the excitement building around it feels very real. Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai isn’t just another rom-com — it could well be the final directorial of the legendary David Dhawan, and that alone makes it unmissable.

Why This Trailer Is One of 2026’s Most Awaited
Coming off the massive success of Border 2, Varun Dhawan is switching gears completely — back to the fizzy, high-energy comedy world that first made him a household name. The film pairs him with Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur in what is being described as a quintessential David Dhawan-style rom-com — big laughs, breezy romance, colourful chaos, and music you can’t stop humming.
The pre-release songs WOW and Vyah Karwado Ji are already going viral, signalling that the film’s musical energy is very much on point. The romantic comedy genre in Bollywood has always thrived on the right mix of chemistry and comic timing, and with this cast, the ingredients are all there.

The David Dhawan Factor — Why This One Feels Different
Here’s what separates Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai from a run-of-the-mill summer release. David Dhawan built an entire era of Hindi cinema comedy — a style so distinctive that audiences who grew up in the 90s and 2000s feel it in their bones. The possibility that this could be his last film as director adds a layer of emotional weight to what is otherwise a bright, fun entertainer. Varun stepping into that legacy — one his own father created — makes for a quietly powerful narrative running alongside the laughs.
