Two months in, and this film simply refuses to fade away. Hanuman Ansh has just crossed the Rs 310 crore mark in India, and it’s still drawing audiences on a regular weekday. For a devotional drama, that’s a remarkable run, and the box office story has a happy ending: a sequel is already on the way.

The Slow Start That Became a Phenomenon

Look closely at those first two weeks, which brought in barely a crore combined. Then the film exploded in week three and peaked in week five at Rs 84.75 crore. That’s classic word-of-mouth magic, and it explains why the box office report calls it a historic blockbuster.

What Is the Final Target?

If the current trend holds, Hanuman Ansh should wind up its entire run around Rs 320 to 325 crore nett, depending on how it performs in the coming days. The film is based on the story of Neem Karoli Baba, the revered spiritual figure. For more background, see Neem Karoli Baba on Wikipedia.

A Sequel Is Coming

The biggest news for fans is that the film has been renewed for a sequel. After a run this strong, it’s hardly a surprise.
