If you’ve been waiting for Vada Chennai 2 to finally get a release date, well — Dhanush just gave fans the most exciting update yet, and honestly, it’s enough to send the Tamil film internet into a frenzy.

At the pre-release event for his upcoming film Kara, Dhanush broke his silence on the long-awaited sequel and promised that the gangster saga will return bigger than ever.

What Did Dhanush Actually Say?

Dhanush told the audience, “Before you ask, Vada Chennai 2 will arrive soon. It will come with a bang. It is not as far as you think — in fact, it’s closer than you think. Anbuvin Ezhuchi will arrive in a big way.”

That tagline — Anbuvin Ezhuchi (The Rise of Anbu) — is the official subtitle of the sequel, and hearing Dhanush say it out loud is everything fans needed right now.

A Quick Recap: Why Vada Chennai Became a Cult Classic

Directed by Vetri Maaran, the original Vada Chennai (2018) is a gritty gangster film set in the bylanes of North Chennai. Dhanush plays Anbu, a skilled carrom player who gets swept into the world of gang conflicts. The film went on to win multiple awards and is widely considered one of Tamil cinema’s finest crime dramas.
