Some thrillers hand you a villain within the first two minutes. Daayra isn’t interested in that shortcut. Its new trailer sets up two dedicated police officers standing on opposite sides of the same investigation — and leaves you guessing exactly why.
What Daayra Is About
Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Daayra brings Kareena Kapoor Khan and Prithviraj Sukumaran together for the first time, playing DCP Ajooni Kohli and DCP Raman Kumar respectively. Inspired by true events, the crime thriller follows a case that places these two officers on opposing sides of the same system, forcing questions about duty, morality, and justice that don’t come with easy answers.
What the Trailer Reveals
The footage leans into the tension between its two central characters rather than spelling out the plot. Both Ajooni and Raman are shown as deeply committed to their jobs, yet their individual sense of justice and responsibility appears to diverge sharply as the case unfolds. Rather than giving away details about the central investigation, the trailer keeps things deliberately vague, building suspense and leaving several open questions about what’s actually at stake.

Why the Trailer Works
The strongest element here isn’t the mystery itself but the dynamic between the two leads. With Meghna Gulzar directing, Daayra appears to be aiming beyond a standard police procedural, using the contrast between Ajooni and Raman’s methods and convictions to drive the tension. This also marks Kareena and Prithviraj’s first collaboration both with each other and with Gulzar, and their contrasting screen presence is shaping up to be one of the film’s biggest draws.
