What would you do to save your favorite idol from tragedy? MBC Plus’s new drama “My Idol, My Debut” takes that fan-fantasy question and turns it into a full-blown time-slip coming-of-age story — and it premieres tonight.
My Idol, My Debut- Story in a Nutshell
The drama follows devoted fan Choi Annie (Hwang Ji Ah), who travels back from 2026 to 2018 hoping to prevent a tragic accident involving her favorite idol, Han Jae Ha. Her plan goes sideways when she accidentally becomes an idol trainee herself, blending romance, mystery, and personal growth into one time-bending premise.
3 Reasons to Watch
1. THE BOYZ’s Q Takes the Lead — This marks Q’s first-ever leading role in a drama, playing Han Jae Ha, a member of the fictional boy group BOY TO THE MOON. As a real idol himself, Q brings genuine industry insight to the role.
2. A Fresh Spin on Time-Slip Storytelling — Written by “Sh**ting Stars” writer Choi Yeon Soo, the series adds emotional stakes to the familiar time-travel formula by tying the fan’s mission directly to her own unexpected trainee journey.
3. The Story Doesn’t Stay on Screen — In a unique crossover move, the drama’s fictional girl group IRION is releasing real original music and promoting as an actual K-pop act, complete with its own web variety show, “IRI ON: Real Debut.”

Why It Stands Out
Time travel has long been a beloved device in science fiction storytelling, but “My Idol, My Debut” grounds it in something deeply relatable to K-pop fans: the desire to protect the people you admire. Blending real music releases with fictional idol group lore gives the show a rare, immersive edge.
