This Week’s Malayalam OTT Lineup: A Rom-Com Hit, a Dubbed Thriller and a Dating-App Series to Stream from October 1

Weekend plans sorted? A fresh batch of Malayalam titles is heading to streaming this week, mixing romance, comedy and action. Here’s a quick guide to what’s arriving, where to watch it and what each story is about, based on Pinkvilla’s weekly roundup.

OTT Streaming Schedule

Bethlehem Kudumba Unit: The Big Name of the Week

Directed by Girish AD, this romantic comedy stars Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju, with Sangeeth Prathap, Vinay Forrt and others in the cast. It streams on JioHotstar from October 2. The story follows Ashley, who returns to Kerala after studying in Ireland and reunites with Justin, the older man she fell in love with before leaving. Music once brought them together, but family opposition and their age gap pulled them apart. When Ashley comes home for Justin’s brother’s wedding, both realise neither has moved on, and the film asks whether they can build a life together despite the resistance.

Romanchakam: A Dating-App Startup Gone Wrong

Arriving in Malayalam dub on Netflix on October 1, this romantic comedy is directed by Venu Gopal Reddy and stars Sumanth Prabhas, Ananthika Sanilkumar and Upendra Limaye. Its hero, Anvesh, launches a dating app to prove his entrepreneurial skills. The irony is that while he helps strangers find love, the woman he loves keeps rejecting and blocking him. As his startup collapses and money troubles pile up, he stumbles into one misadventure after another.

Sardar 2: Father-Son Action With a Deadly Twist

Karthi headlines this action thriller, directed by PS Mithran, which lands on Prime Video on October 1 in a Malayalam dub. SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath and Rajisha Vijayan also star. Veteran officer Chandra Bose and his son Vijay Prakash race to stop an international mercenary group from unleashing a deadly biochemical weapon called Doku. Haunted by a past tragedy that claimed 3,000 lives, Chandra is pulled out of exile when the group hunts for three access keys hidden by former agents. Along the way, the film also touches on antibiotic overuse and bacterial resistance.

#Love: Chemistry vs. Compatibility

Directed by Balaji Mohan, this web series stars Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lakshmi and streams on Netflix from October 2 in a Malayalam dub. It follows Tara and Matthew, rival founders of the dating platforms FOUND and Find My Bae. Both have built businesses around helping others find love, but their own relationship puts those theories to the test. The series asks whether chemistry or compatibility matters more, and how romance has changed in the age of dating apps.

Which One Should You Pick?

If you want a warm, feel-good watch, Bethlehem Kudumba Unit is the clear starting point. Romanchakam and #Love suit anyone in the mood for light, app-themed romance, while Sardar 2 is the pick for action fans.
