The Testaments Episode 7 Ending Explained — Agnes Lights a Spark While Daisy’s Survival Comes at a Terrible Price

Just when you think Gilead can’t get more suffocating, Episode 7 of The Testaments turns the heat all the way up. Here’s a full breakdown of “Commitment” and its gut-punch ending.

What Happened in The Testaments Episode 7?

Released on Hulu on May 6, 2026, Episode 7 titled “Commitment” focuses on the Green girls as they face the harsh reality of their futures in Gilead. Agnes struggles emotionally when she is not matched with the person she hoped for, while a dangerous Commander shows interest in her, raising fears about her future. The episode also switches to Daisy’s past through flashbacks showing her life during her training under Mayday officers.

Agnes’s Growing Defiance

Agnes’s most significant act of rebellion comes in Episode 7 — it isn’t sudden, but has been building for a while. The proof is her hidden collection of trinkets found on the beach: a dice, pens, and other little artifacts from the world outside Gilead that she’s definitely not allowed to have.

Agnes retreats to this hidden stash at the episode’s end. Among her treasures is a cigarette stub left by Garth, the man she has real feelings for. She holds it to her mouth and almost lights it — though she doesn’t smoke it, the act symbolizes her growing rebellious identity. She is no longer just a compliant Green girl; she is a young woman quietly reclaiming herself.

Things get darker when Commander Weston — a man with a past domestic abuse case — becomes more determined to marry Agnes precisely because he noticed her defiant streak. Her mother makes a chilling comment about the Commander being eager to “discipline it out of her.”

Daisy’s Guilt-Ridden Ending

The Eyes received new evidence that one of the Pearl Girls might have been involved in the school bus attack. Daisy’s vintage Walkman-style radio was found — but she had been smart enough to hide it in the neighboring Pearl Girl’s bed. The innocent girl was taken away as a suspect.

The final moments show a conflicted Daisy praying — safe for now, but haunted by the fact that her survival came at the cost of an innocent life.
