The Shadow Monarch Is Coming to Mumbai — Solo Leveling’s Voice Actor Taito Ban to Appear at Comic Con

If you’re an anime fan in India, May 9, 2026 just became the most important date on your calendar. Crunchyroll has officially confirmed that Taito Ban — the Japanese voice actor behind the iconic Sung Jinwoo — and Atsushi Kaneko, producer at A-1 Pictures, will be making a special appearance at Mumbai Comic Con. This is not a drill.

Why This Is a Big Deal for Indian Anime Fans?

Solo Leveling has been nothing short of a phenomenon. Based on the Korean web novel by Chugong, the anime adaptation by A-1 Pictures has taken the global community by storm — and India is very much part of that wave. Sung Jinwoo’s arc from the world’s weakest hunter to the all-powerful Shadow Monarch is one of the most emotionally gripping power-fantasy journeys in modern anime.

And the voice that brought every agonizing struggle and triumphant moment to life? That’s Taito Ban.

Having him — alongside the man who helped produce the series — walk into Mumbai is a moment the Indian anime community has genuinely earned.

What to Expect at the Event?

The appearance promises to be far more than a photo-op. Fans can look forward to candid conversations about the making of Solo Leveling, what it took to voice Sung Jinwoo across his transformation, and the production decisions that shaped the anime’s distinctive look and tone.

The highlight that’s already generating buzz? Live dubbing sessions with Taito Ban. Getting to hear Sung Jinwoo’s voice performed live in the same room is the kind of experience that doesn’t come around often — especially in India.

Taito Ban & Atsushi Kaneko: The Faces Behind the Legend

Taito Ban is a prominent Japanese voice actor whose portrayal of Sung Jinwoo has resonated deeply with fans globally. Capturing a character who evolves from broken and powerless to coldly unstoppable is no small feat, and Ban’s performance has been widely credited as a core reason the anime hits as hard as it does emotionally.

Atsushi Kaneko, the A-1 Pictures producer behind Solo Leveling, brings the other side of the story — the decisions, pressures, and creative choices that go into adapting a beloved manhwa into one of anime’s biggest recent hits. For fans who want to understand the how behind the magic, his presence at the panel is invaluable.

Together, they represent both the heart and the craft of the series. For more on the anime scene in India and what’s coming to screens, check out our latest anime coverage on TechnoSports.
