The Last Interview First Look: Six Perfect Resumes, One Room Full of Secrets

Job interviews are stressful enough without someone leaking your darkest secret mid-round. That’s exactly the premise driving The Last Interview, a new South Korean thriller that just dropped its first poster and teaser — and it’s already promising one of the tensest ensemble mysteries of the year.

What The Last Interview Is About

The film opens with six candidates who’ve beaten odds of 5,000 to 1 to reach the final round of a hiring process. The catch: they have just two hours to collectively choose one winner among themselves, decided through five rounds of public voting. It sounds like a fair, if nerve-wracking, exercise — until six mysterious envelopes appear, each bearing a candidate’s name and a hidden revelation about them.

As secrets spill out one envelope at a time, trust among the candidates unravels fast. What starts as a competition for a job title turns into something closer to a psychological standoff, with each contender left wondering who’s lying and who might be next to be exposed. Directed by Kim Jung Hoon, previously known for The Accidental Detective, the film leans into the kind of tense, high-stakes setup that turns a simple room and a timer into genuine drama.

Meet the Six Candidates

Each personality type is clearly built to clash with the others once the envelopes start opening — the calm observer against the guarded strategist, the idealist against the perfectionist — setting up plenty of friction to fuel the story’s central mystery.

What the Poster and Teaser Reveal

The first poster shows all six candidates seated around a table with a timer at its center, their stiff postures and wary expressions doing most of the storytelling before a single word is said. The taglines “Perfect resumes, worst revelations” and “Everyone is lying” make the film’s intentions clear from the outset — nobody in that room is quite who they appear to be on paper.

The teaser itself opens with the candidates entering the interview room as the timer begins and the instructions are read aloud: they have two hours to choose just one final candidate. From there, the mysterious envelopes start appearing, and with each one opened, the group’s trust in each other visibly erodes — a slow unraveling that looks set to define the film’s tension.

Why This Is Worth Watching Out For

Ensemble mystery-thrillers built around confined settings and ticking clocks have a strong track record of delivering compelling drama, and The Last Interview’s premise taps directly into universal anxieties around job interviews, judgment, and hidden pasts. With a cast spanning familiar faces from Korean film and television, and a director who’s already shown a knack for tension-driven storytelling, this one looks positioned to be a talking point when it arrives.

The Last Interview is set to hit theaters in November 2026.
