The Internet Said J.Lo and Brett Goldstein Were Dating — She Had Three Words for That!

There’s a particular kind of celebrity experience that Jennifer Lopez knows better than almost anyone alive — the moment the internet decides you’re in a relationship simply because you were photographed near another human being. Her latest co-star, Ted Lasso fan favourite Brett Goldstein, just got his first real taste of it. And watching J.Lo handle the fallout was genuinely refreshing.

How the Rumour Started

Back in March 2025, Lopez and Goldstein were spotted together at a Broadway show in what was — by all accounts — simply two colleagues enjoying a night out while preparing to promote their upcoming romantic comedy Office Romance. The internet, naturally, had other ideas. By the time their press tour rolled around, the dating narrative had fully taken on a life of its own.

The Today Show Moment Everyone’s Talking About

When Today Show host Savannah Guthrie raised the question on air, Lopez didn’t get flustered or deflect — she went straight to the point. She highlighted what she described as an exhausting but familiar pattern: whenever she is seen with any man — co-star, collaborator, or casual acquaintance — the media immediately manufactures a romance. She even noted that she had apparently been “linked to” Kevin Costner at some point this year, among others. Her point? Being seen together means nothing.

Goldstein, keeping things light, played along with characteristic wit — joking that proximity to Lopez is basically a relationship rumour waiting to happen and that he had been deliberately standing close to her all morning. The finale was short, definitive, and utterly unambiguous: Lopez said “Not dating” and Goldstein confirmed it without hesitation.

Why This Moment Resonates

Lopez has spent decades navigating one of the most scrutinised romantic histories in pop culture. Her story with Ben Affleck — an early 2000s engagement, a painful split under media pressure, a rekindled romance two decades later, a July 2022 marriage, and eventually a divorce filing in August 2024 — played out almost entirely in public. She also shares twins with singer Marc Anthony and has been married four times in total.

At this point, Lopez addressing rumours with calm authority rather than anxiety or defensiveness speaks to someone who knows exactly who she is — and isn’t rattled by the noise anymore. You can read more about her remarkable career and personal journey on her Wikipedia page.
