The Story Behind the Romance
Set at Chidori High—infamous for poor academics—the series follows Rintaro Tsumugi, whose intimidating appearance masks a gentle soul working at his family’s patisserie. There he befriends Kaoruko Waguri from prestigious Kikyo Girls High. Problem: Kikyo students are forbidden from interacting with Chidori boys.
Season 1 navigates this social divide with heartwarming moments as the pair overcome prejudice.
Plenty of Source Material Available
Season 1 adapted only 39 chapters from 163 published—roughly five manga volumes. Over 120 chapters remain untapped for multiple seasons.
If the fragrant flower blooms with dignity season 2 follows the same pacing, expect chapters 40-80 coverage (volumes 6-11) (Kodansha).
