The Devil’s Mouth: Kathryn Newton’s New Survival Thriller Is Diving Into Danger This July

Horror fans, mark your calendars — Kathryn Newton is trading rom-com charm for pure survival panic in her upcoming thriller, The Devil’s Mouth, and it’s landing on streaming sooner than you’d think.

What Is The Devil’s Mouth About?

The film follows five friends on one last carefree trip along Thailand’s coastline before real life catches up with them. What starts as a guided swim through a scenic cave system called “The Devil’s Mouth” turns into a nightmare when a recent storm floods the caves — and something dangerous has made a home inside. Trapped, hunted, and running out of options, the group has to fight their way out of the dark before trust (and oxygen) runs out completely.

The Devil’s Mouth: When and Where to Watch

The Cast Bringing the Chaos to Life

Leading the pack is Kathryn Newton, joined by Lana Condor, Gavin Casalegno, Nico Hiraga, Tommi Rose, and Tayme Thapthimthong. Behind the camera, Jeff Wadlow directs from a script by Aja Gabel and Myung Joh Wesner, with Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee producing.

Newton has had a busy stretch lately — she reprises Cassie Lang in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe entry Avengers: Doomsday, part of the sprawling franchise built around Earth’s mightiest heroes (Wikipedia). Before that, though, she’s got this claustrophobic cave-set nightmare to get through first.

Why This One’s Worth the Watch

Cave-survival horror has a special kind of dread — no easy escape, shrinking air pockets, and a creature you can barely see coming. Add a cast of young actors whose friendships start cracking under pressure, and you’ve got a recipe for genuinely tense viewing. If Wadlow leans into the claustrophobia the way early buzz suggests, this could be one of the more nerve-wracking OTT drops of the month.
