The Devil Wears Prada 2: Miranda Priestly Is Back & She’s Training Her Replacement — Everything You Need to Know

Twenty years after Miranda Priestly made us all terrified of cerulean blue, she’s back. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theatres globally on May 1, 2026, and honestly, the fashion world hasn’t felt this excited since the original dropped in 2006. Here’s your complete breakdown.

Meryl Streep’s Take on Simone Ashley: The Scene-Stealer You Didn’t Know You Needed

In an exclusive chat, Meryl Streep opened up about working with Simone Ashley, who plays her new on-screen assistant. According to Streep, Ashley is not just an assistant — she’s someone who has absorbed every bit of Miranda’s energy, making her a kind of “Miranda-in-training.” The old cast, she noted, brings the emotional weight of the original film, while the newer additions inject fresh energy that keeps the sequel feeling alive. That dynamic alone sounds like pure cinematic gold.

The Devil Wears Prada Full Cast

One notable absence — Adrian Grenier will not be returning as Nate Cooper.

What’s the Film About?

The sequel is produced by 20th Century Studios, and from the trailer, Miranda Priestly is fighting to save her fashion empire at all costs. The same razor-sharp wit, the same ice-cold authority — but now with a whole new set of power plays. Think of it as the original’s sophistication turned up several notches.

The Devil Wears Prada franchise became a cultural phenomenon largely because it captured the cutthroat world of high fashion with both humour and heart — and the sequel seems set to do exactly the same.

Why This Film Actually Matters?

Let’s be real — most sequels disappoint. But The Devil Wears Prada 2 has something rare: the original cast actually wanted to come back. That enthusiasm shows in every piece of news coming out of the production. Meryl Streep’s admiration for Simone Ashley, Emily Blunt and Anne Hathaway’s reunion, the addition of powerhouse names like Kenneth Branagh and Lucy Liu — this isn’t a cash grab. It feels like a passion project. And that matters.
