Thalapathy Vijay Turns 52: Atlee’s Heartfelt Birthday Note Says It All

Birthdays hit differently when they mark a new chapter. Thalapathy Vijay celebrated his 52nd birthday on June 22, 2026, marking his first birthday after retiring from active cinema — and one of his closest collaborators made sure the day didn’t go unnoticed.

Director Atlee took to social media to pen a short, heartfelt wish, writing simply, “Happy birthday, Anna (brother),” alongside a candid throwback picture of the two of them. In the photo, both were dressed in black as Atlee embraced the superstar — a quiet, affectionate moment between two people whose professional bond turned into a real friendship.

Thalapathy Vijay: Overview

A Bond Built Over Iconic Films

Atlee and Vijay’s collaboration produced some of Tamil cinema’s most celebrated commercial hits, including Theri and Mersal, films that cemented both the director’s and the star’s reputations. That history clearly runs deeper than just work — the “Anna” in Atlee’s caption speaks to genuine affection built over years of collaboration.

This birthday carries extra weight given Vijay’s recent transition away from acting, marking the first time fans are celebrating him in this new phase of his life and career.
