Why Is KHxRK Getting Delayed?
The short answer: Nelson Dilipkumar is a very busy man right now. The director is currently occupied with Jailer 2, which is being targeted for release in the final quarter of 2026, with September, Ayudha Pooja in October, and Diwali being considered as potential release windows. Until that film wraps and releases, KHxRK simply can’t begin.
With the filmmaker focused on completing Jailer 2, his collaboration with the two superstars is expected to commence only next year. For fans, that’s a bittersweet update — but at least the film is firmly on the cards.

What’s Rajinikanth Up To In the Meantime?
The Superstar isn’t sitting idle. Rajinikanth is said to have mapped out his professional commitments for the next three years and is reportedly keen on supporting talented and emerging directors by giving them opportunities.
His immediate next is Thalaivar173, which has had a bit of a directorial shuffle. Initially announced with Sundar C. as director, the filmmaker later stepped away due to prior commitments. Cibi Chakaravarthi was brought on board as a replacement, but he too is rumored to have exited, with Ashwath Marimuthu expected to take over directorial duties. The film is also unofficially rumored to feature Rajinikanth in the role of a doctor.
Meanwhile, Kamal Haasan has his own exciting project lined up — KH237, directed by stunt choreographer duo AnbAriv.
