The moment the KHxRK promo dropped, the internet collectively lost its mind — and rightfully so. Watching Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth together for the first time in nearly five decades was simply electric. Now, composer Anirudh Ravichander has opened up about the film’s vibe, and what he said is genuinely refreshing. For more Tamil cinema updates, stay tuned to TechnoSports.

What Did Anirudh Say?
Speaking at a News18 event, Anirudh was candid and clearly buzzing about this project. He pointed out that unlike the thunderous mass entertainers fans might expect from two superstars of this stature, KHxRK is being crafted as a fun, character-driven film. He noted that Nelson’s script is working brilliantly and that the vibe from the promo hints at something charming rather than loud.
He also shared that composing for KHxRK required a completely different approach — a deliberate shift to a retro, 1970s sound rather than the high-octane mass numbers he delivered for Vikram and Jailer. Sitting in a car alongside both legends as they filmed the promo was, by his own description, surreal.
Anirudh called it a “double bonanza” and said the team is determined to deliver a big hit.
Why This Film Is Historic
Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth last shared screen space in 1978 — nearly five decades ago. Both went on to become towering icons of Indian cinema in their own right, making their reunion one of the most anticipated events in Tamil film history. Director Nelson Dilipkumar, who helmed Jailer and Beast, brings his signature blend of humour and style to this dream collaboration.
What’s Next for Both Stars?
Rajinikanth is currently gearing up for Jailer 2 (also directed by Nelson), with Shah Rukh Khan reportedly joining for a cameo shoot in March 2026. Kamal Haasan, meanwhile, is busy with KH237 and Kalki 2898 AD: Part 2.
KHxRK filming is expected to begin in 2027 once both stars complete their current commitments.
