Just as Jailer 2 begins its theatrical run, Rajinikanth fans already have their eyes on what’s next. Buzz around Dharman, his upcoming action entertainer, says the film is approaching the finish line. Here’s what’s being reported, and what still needs official confirmation.
What’s the Latest on Dharman?
According to a Valai Pechu report, the team will take a break in October 2026 and resume filming in November for the final schedule. The plan is reportedly to wrap production in that stretch and aim for a Pongal 2027 release.
The makers haven’t officially confirmed the shooting schedule or the release plans, so treat both as unverified for now. The film was earlier known by its tentative title Thalaivar173, and it has reportedly been moving at a brisk pace since production began earlier this year.

A Team Worth Watching
The technical lineup is strong. Anirudh Ravichander handling both songs and background score is always a good sign for a Rajinikanth film, and the Anbariv duo on action choreography promises high-energy set pieces.
There’s also a rumor that Ram Pothineni could play the main antagonist. That would be a big casting coup, but the makers haven’t confirmed it, so it’s best taken with a pinch of salt.

What About the Release Date?
Pongal is one of the most competitive release windows in Tamil cinema, and a film in this slot needs a smooth wrap. Reports also suggest the Pongal slot is being discussed alongside other big releases, so the final date may still shift. Until the makers announce something officially, the safest approach is to follow the project step by step.
Where Rajinikanth Stands Now?
Before Dharman, the superstar is in Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, which is scheduled to release on October 15, 2026. The sequel follows retired officer Tiger Muthuvel Pandian as he goes undercover as a driver to take down a dangerous empire. Cast members include SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan, with cameos from Mohanlal, Hrithik Roshan, Shiva Rajkumar and Vijay Sethupathi also expected.
Conclusion
Dharman is shaping up as a stylish, star-packed entertainer with a strong technical team and a festive-season goal. Until the makers confirm dates, enjoy the buzz with a healthy dose of patience. Bookmark TechnoSports for official updates as soon as they drop.
