Take Charge of My Heart Teaser: A Human Battery Charger Just Became K-Drama’s Most Electric Rom-Com Premise

An artificial heart running out of battery. A woman whose touch electrocutes everyone she meets. Put them together, and somehow, it’s not a horror story — it’s a romantic comedy.

Netflix’s Take Charge of My Heart just dropped its new teaser, and the premise alone makes it one of the more inventive K-drama concepts to hit screens this fall.

Take Charge of My Heart: Key Details

The Premise: Opposites That Literally Attract

Na Bo Bae developed electrical powers after being struck by lightning as a child, forcing her into a life of near-total isolation — even a light touch from her can electrocute someone. Meanwhile, Baek Ho Rang is an executive director at TS Resort juggling two massive pressures: an upcoming artificial heart battery replacement surgery and the succession of the entire TS Group.

Their worlds collide when the two accidentally share an almost-kiss, and Na Bo Bae discovers something strange — unlike everyone else, Baek Ho Rang is completely unaffected by her electrical current. That connection becomes crucial when a hospital power outage on the day of his surgery causes his artificial heart to run dangerously low. For reasons neither of them understands, his heart battery begins recharging whenever Na Bo Bae is nearby.

The Deal That Sets the Story in Motion

With her writing contract about to expire, Na Bo Bae is tasked by her director to write a passionate, mature romance story. Curious to experience real intimacy for the first time in her life, she agrees to Baek Ho Rang’s unusual proposal: “Just charge me for three months until my re-surgery.” It’s a premise that blends body, plot, and metaphor in a way only K-drama seems able to pull off — literally charging someone’s heart while also opening hers.

Why This Concept Stands Out

K-drama rom-coms often lean on familiar tropes — enemies to lovers, contract marriages, workplace rivals — but Take Charge of My Heart takes a genuinely novel angle by turning physical touch into the emotional core of the story. The fantasy element (electrical powers meeting a mechanical heart) gives the writers room to explore intimacy, vulnerability, and connection in a way that feels fresh rather than gimmicky.

Where and When to Watch?

Take Charge of My Heart premieres on Netflix on October 9, 2026. While waiting, fans can catch Kim Young Kwang in Mission Possible and Chae Soo Bin in Love in the Moonlight, both available on Viki.
