T20 World Cup 2022: India defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs

India beat the Netherlands by 56 runs and had their second consecutive victory in the T20 World Cup on Thursday. India chose to bat first and mustered 179 runs for 2. The Netherlands could score only 123 runs for 9. India had a strong batting lineup with Rohit Sharma scoring 53, Virat Kohli scoring 62 and not out and Suryakumar Yadav mustering 51 runs unbeaten. Fred Klaassen from the Netherlands had a figure of 1/33, Paul van Meekren had 1/32. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar had a figure od 2/9 and Arshdeep Singh had a figure of 2/37. Spinners Axar Patel picked 2 wickets giving 18 runs, Ravichandran Ashwin scalped 2 giving 21 runs, and shined from India.

Rohit Sharma and Co. faced the Netherlands in the Super 12 encounter of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the SCG in Sydney on Thursday, October 27. It was a clinical win from India’s side as they defeated the Netherlands by 56 runs in the second match of Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma elected to bat first and mustered a half-century that helped him to boost confidence. KL Rahul got out cheaply in an lbw. Virat Kohli mustered another half-century and Suryakumar Yadav smashed a quick half-century of his own. India posted 179/2 in just 20 overs.

The Netherlands on the other hand lost both the openers in just five overs. Max O’Dowd started well before he was dismissed by Axar Patel. Bhuvneshwar Kumar also bowled two maiden overs in one row and took one wicket. India took wickets at regular intervals and the Netherlands team never recovered. they managed to score 123/9 in 20 overs. India has four points and a net run rate of 1.425, they took the top spot in Group 2. They are ahead of South Africa which has three points and a better run rate of NRR 5.2.

India’s next game is again in South Africa on Sunday, October 30.
