Pet lovers can finally exhale. Krypto does not die in Supergirl — after being poisoned by the villainous Krem, Supergirl successfully retrieves the antidote and saves her loyal pup. But getting there involves a galaxy-spanning, emotionally heavy journey that’s easily the heart of the film. newsbytesapp

What Puts Krypto in Danger?

The plot kicks into gear when ruthless space pirate Krem of the Yellow Hills hijacks Kara’s ship and shoots Krypto with a poisonous dart. The only cure is in Krem’s possession, and Kara has just 72 hours to track him down, retrieve it, and save Krypto before time runs out. newsbytesapp newsbytesapp

That ticking clock forces Kara into an unlikely alliance. She teams up with a young girl named Ruthye, who is hunting down Krem to avenge her murdered family, and together the two set off on an epic interstellar journey that changes them both.

How Does the Final Battle Play Out?

After enduring a brutal final battle on a planet with conflicting suns and outwitting Krem’s Kryptonite defenses, Kara stops Ruthye from giving in to a cycle of bloodshed. But she doesn’t let Krem walk away either — when Ruthye has the chance to kill Krem and avenge her family, Kara persuades her to let it go, and after Ruthye walks away, Kara kills Krem herself. newsbytesapp pinkvilla

This is actually a major shift from the source material. In the 2021 graphic novel, Krem actually lives and is imprisoned in the Phantom Zone instead, since Kara only wanted to teach Ruthye that revenge isn’t the answer.

Does Krypto Make It?

After defeating Krem, Kara retrieves the antidote and travels back to where she left her companion, just in time to cure the mischievous pooch. Krypto soon bounces back, and the movie ends with Kara and her healthy super-pup returning to Earth. newsbytesapp

The film closes with Kara meeting her cousin Superman, telling him she plans to stay on Earth for a while — a quiet but meaningful shift after a long stretch of cosmic drifting.
