If your household has a toddler and a tablet, chances are you already know Steve and his mischievous puppet sidekick Maggie Magpie. Now, Netflix wants in — and UK and Ireland families are getting first access.

Steve and Maggie: Key Details

Why This Show Is a Big Deal

What started as a simple English-teaching tool using an interactive learning approach has grown into a global children’s phenomenon. Steve and Maggie combine playful sketches, sing-along songs, and toddler-friendly comedy, and the channel has racked up billions of views over the years. It’s the kind of “edutainment” that keeps kids entertained while sneaking in some early learning.

Netflix’s Bigger Kids’ Content Strategy

This move fits into a pattern Netflix has followed for years. The streamer has steadily built relationships with breakout YouTube stars, bringing shows like Cocomelon-style animated hits and creator-led programming from names like Mark Rober and Ms. Rachel onto its platform. Licensing proven, high-performing kids’ content gives Netflix an easy win — the audience is already there, and parents get an ad-free way to watch familiar shows without navigating YouTube’s algorithm.

Steve and Maggie isn’t exclusive to Netflix either. The show already streams on platforms like Prime Video, Tubi, and Roku, showing just how far its reach extends beyond its YouTube roots.

Why Only the UK and Ireland for Now?

Netflix often tests kids’ programming in smaller regional markets before expanding further. Given how large the Steve and Maggie fanbase already is, a wider rollout — potentially including the US — wouldn’t be surprising if the UK numbers perform well.

For now, mark your calendars: Steve and Maggie land on Netflix UK and Ireland starting August 3, right in time for summer break entertainment.
