Just when things were getting cozy between its leads, tvN’s Spooky in Love threw in a fake engagement, a jealous suitor, and a decade-old curse all at once. The occult romance is heading into its second half with real stakes finally surfacing.
What Happened So Far
Cheon Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) had been pressured by her grandmother into getting engaged to Kang Min-hwan (Ong Seong-wu) to quiet rumors from a past broken engagement and secure her position in a family succession battle. Instead, she flipped the script — bringing Ma Gang-wook (Yang Se-jong) to a family dinner and announcing a fake engagement to him instead.
Where the Story Goes Next
Since Cheon Yeo-ri and Ma Gang-wook have clearly been growing closer while solving cases together, the fake engagement setup leaves an obvious question: will it become real? Meanwhile, Kang Min-hwan — who’s long harbored real feelings for Cheon Yeo-ri — isn’t taking the news well. Expect him to actively work to separate the new couple, revealing a darker side of his character in the process.

The Curse at the Center of It All
The drama is also finally digging into Cheon Yeo-ri’s backstory — a yacht accident 12 years ago that killed her friend Kang Ji-hwan and left her with the ability to see ghosts, a power that transfers to anyone she touches. The second half promises to explore why Kang Ji-hwan’s spirit still lingers instead of moving on, tying the mystery directly into the reason behind her curse.
