Splitgate 2 Ranked Mode: Everything You Need to Know About Competitive Play in the Open Beta

In the fast-paced world of first-person shooters, few games have generated as much excitement in 2025 as Splitgate 2. Developed by 1047 Games, this sequel has quickly become a hot topic among FPS enthusiasts, especially with its Open Beta now live. As players from around the globe dive into the portal-hopping action, one question dominates the community: does Splitgate 2 have a ranked mode in its Open Beta?

For competitive gamers, ranked playlists are more than just a feature—they are the heart of the experience, offering a true test of skill, strategy, and teamwork. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore the current status of Splitgate 2’s ranked mode, what the developers have revealed, and what players can expect as the game moves toward its official launch.

Splitgate 2 Ranked Mode: Current Status and Developer Insights

As of the Open Beta launch on May 22, 2025, Splitgate 2 does not feature a ranked playlist. This has been a point of curiosity and, for some, disappointment among the game’s rapidly growing player base. The absence of ranked play at launch, however, is not a sign of neglect. According to a recent statement from a 1047 Games developer on Reddit, ranked mode is a top priority and is actively in development.

The developer assured fans that the competitive playlist will be arriving “in the next few weeks,” and players “will for sure not have to wait until October for it.” This means that while the Open Beta currently offers around ten unique game modes for players to enjoy and master, the highly anticipated ranked mode is just around the corner.

The decision to delay ranked mode’s introduction is a strategic one. By allowing players to familiarize themselves with the game’s mechanics, maps, and unique portal-based gameplay, 1047 Games is ensuring that when ranked mode does arrive, the community will be ready for a truly competitive experience. This approach also gives the developers time to fine-tune matchmaking, balance gameplay, and address any unforeseen issues that may arise during the Open Beta period.

What to Expect from Splitgate 2’s Ranked Playlist

When Splitgate 2’s ranked mode finally launches, it is expected to bring a new level of intensity and engagement to the game. Competitive playlists in FPS titles are designed to offer higher stakes, structured progression, and a clear sense of achievement. Players can look forward to climbing the ranks, earning rewards, and seeing their names on leaderboards. The ranked mode will likely feature a variety of the game’s existing modes, each with its own objectives and strategies, ensuring that the experience remains fresh and challenging.

The introduction of ranked play is also expected to boost player retention and attract new competitors from other popular FPS franchises like CS2, Apex Legends, and Call of Duty. For many, the thrill of competitive gaming lies in the pursuit of improvement and the satisfaction of outplaying opponents in a fair, skill-based environment. Splitgate 2’s ranked mode promises to deliver exactly that, with the added twist of its signature portal mechanics.
