SKY Becomes a Dad! Suryakumar Yadav & Devisha Welcome Baby Girl

On the cricket field, he’s the 360-degree destroyer who makes bowling attacks look ordinary. But on May 7, 2026, Suryakumar Yadav played his most important role yet — becoming a father for the very first time.

India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty were blessed with a baby girl on May 7, 2026. The cricketer announced the joyous news himself on social media with a heartwarming post that immediately took the internet by storm — “With giggles, bows, and dreams to unfurl — we welcome our baby girl 🩷🧿”

The entire cricket fraternity erupted in congratulations. But behind the celebrations, a familiar Mumbai Indians crisis quietly deepened.

SKY’s Big Day — Quick Facts

The Timing Couldn’t Be More Bittersweet for MI

Due to this development, Suryakumar looks set to miss MI’s next match on May 10, against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Raipur, and has not travelled with the team as per reports.

And here’s the brutal context: in 10 matches so far, SKY has scored only 195 runs at an average of 19, with a strike rate of 145 — well below the explosive standards fans expect from him. That reflects in Mumbai’s overall performance too, with MI sitting in 9th place with just three wins.

Now add Hardik Pandya’s back spasm keeping him out of the same match, and Mumbai Indians are heading into a must-win fixture without their captain and their star batter.

Who Leads MI Now?

The question of who would stand in as captain looms large — Surya had led the side in Pandya’s absence in the last match against LSG. The remaining options are Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Tilak Varma.

This year, the stalwarts of MI have struggled badly — Pandya has managed only four wickets and 146 runs, while Bumrah has picked up just three wickets. Tilak Varma, barring a century early in the tournament, has little else to show.

MI’s season is effectively over mathematically, but pride and reputation demand they show up — and show up hard — against RCB on May 10.

The Human Story Behind the Headlines ❤️

It’s easy to get lost in the team’s poor form and the captaincy headaches. But step back for a moment — a man just became a father. That’s the only scorecard that matters today.

SKY has given Indian cricket some of its most breathtaking moments across formats. According to the ICC’s official T20I rankings, he has been among the most dominant T20 batters on the planet. The cricket will always be there. The baby girl who arrived on May 7 will always be his greatest achievement.

Today belongs to SKY the dad, not SKY the batter. Congratulations to Suryakumar and Devisha — may little Yadav junior inherit every ounce of that 360-degree brilliance.
