“She Lowkey ATE”: Jade Thirlwall’s Greta from Gremlins 2 Halloween Costume Breaks the Internet

Former Little Mix star Jade Thirlwall (now performing as JADE) just raised the bar for celebrity Halloween costumes. On October 31, 2025, the singer shocked fans by transforming into Greta from the 1990 cult classic Gremlins 2: The New Batch—and the internet absolutely lost it. This wasn’t your typical celebrity “wear a wig and call it a costume” moment; Thirlwall went full prosthetics and body makeup to embody the iconic green gremlin character.

Why This Costume Matters

In an era where celebrity Halloween costumes often feel like glorified photoshoots—complete with professional lighting and minimal effort—Thirlwall’s commitment stands out. The extensive prosthetics and full-body makeup required hours of work, demonstrating genuine appreciation for the holiday and the character.

Gremlins 2: The New Batch might be a 1990 cult film, but Greta remains an iconic character for ’90s kids. By choosing such a specific reference, Thirlwall showed her pop culture knowledge extends beyond mainstream choices.

Jade’s Solo Career Takes Flight

While fans debated the costume online, Thirlwall’s professional life is soaring. After leaving Little Mix, she’s carved out an impressive solo identity:

Recent Milestones:

• Released debut solo album That’s Showbiz, Baby! (September 12, 2025)
• Launched That’s Showbiz Baby! – The Tour (started October 8, 2025)
• Collaborated with Tove Lo and RAYE on album tracks
• Sampled The Supremes’ 1965 classic (giving up significant royalties)

Speaking to People Magazine, the 32-year-old expressed excitement about her solo journey: “I’ve waited a long time for this moment… I’m really buzzing about it, and the response has been incredible.”

The Little Mix Connection

Despite pursuing solo careers, Thirlwall maintains strong bonds with former bandmates Perrie Edwards and Leigh-Anne Pinnock. Both are also launching solo projects, with Edwards releasing her debut album just one week after Thirlwall’s.

“They messaged me congratulating me…I actually saw Leigh-Anne last night at an event, so we’ve seen each other. They’ve been very, very lovely,” Thirlwall shared.

This supportive dynamic proves that successful groups can evolve into successful solo artists without burning bridges—a refreshing narrative in the often-competitive music industry.

Celebrity Halloween Done Right

Thirlwall’s Greta costume joins the ranks of legendary celebrity Halloween moments that prioritize transformation over glamour. By choosing an obscure character requiring significant makeup work, she demonstrated:

• Commitment to craft – Hours in the makeup chair
• Pop culture knowledge – Recognizing cult classic characters
• Self-awareness – Willingness to look genuinely monstrous
• Halloween spirit – Prioritizing fun over conventional beauty standards

This approach contrasts sharply with celebrities who simply wear designer clothes with a themed accessory and call it a costume.

What’s Next for JADE?

Currently touring for her debut album, Thirlwall continues building her solo brand. Her collaborative work with artists like Tove Lo (“one of the best pop songs ever written” praise for “No One Dies by Love”) and RAYE shows strategic networking with respected female artists.

The Halloween costume, while seemingly trivial, reinforces her playful, committed personality—traits that translate well into her music career branding.
