‘Severance’ Renewed for Season 3 at Apple TV+: A Thrilling Return to Lumon

The mind-bending world of “Severance“ is officially expanding. Apple TV+ has renewed its most-watched series for a highly anticipated third season, just a day after the Season 2 finale captivated audiences. What started as a cult favorite has grown into a massive success, making its renewal a thrilling yet unsurprising announcement.

The Premise: A Workplace Divided

Created by Dan Erickson and directed by Ben Stiller, Severance explores a dystopian workplace where employees undergo a radical procedure separating their professional and personal memories. Adam Scott plays Mark Scout, a grieving man whose work persona, or “innie,” exists entirely within the walls of the mysterious biotech giant Lumon Industries.

While Mark’s outie mourns his wife, his innie remains unaware of the life he leads beyond office doors. However, as the employees at Lumon begin to uncover unsettling truths, their desire for autonomy intensifies.

Season 1 and 2 Recap: The Fight for Awareness

The first season followed Mark and his colleagues Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irving (John Turturro) as they discovered ways to awaken their “innie” selves outside Lumon’s walls, leading to shocking revelations.

In Season 2, the mystery deepened as the team confronted the consequences of their rebellion and struggled to piece together their real identities. With each revelation, the eerie corporate environment became even more ominous, leaving viewers eagerly awaiting the next chapter.

Season 3: What Lies Ahead?

While the details remain under wraps, creator Dan Erickson has reassured fans that a larger plan for the series is in place. He previously revealed to Variety that “a lot is mapped out” for future seasons and that the show has a clear endgame in mind.

The renewal guarantees more unsettling secrets, intense character arcs, and deeper insights into Lumon’s enigmatic severance procedure. With the past two seasons leaving viewers on edge, Season 3 is expected to push boundaries even further.

Returning Cast and Crew

The show’s stellar ensemble is expected to return, including:

• Tramell Tillman
• Patricia Arquette
• Christopher Walken
• Dichen Lachman
• Jen Tullock
• Michael Chernus

Behind the scenes, Ben Stiller and Dan Erickson continue their creative leadership, alongside executive producers Nicholas Weinstock, Jackie Cohn, Mark Friedman, Andrew Colville, Chris Black, John Cameron, Beau Willimon, Caroline Baron, Jordan Tappis, and Scott. The series is produced by Fifth Season, Red Hour Productions, Westward, and Animals & People.

Ben Stiller and Adam Scott React

Ben Stiller, known for his passion for the show, shared his excitement with a signature Severance-style quip:

“Making ‘Severance’ has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. While I have no memory of this, I’m told making Season 3 will be equally enjoyable, though any recollection of these future events will be forever and irrevocably wiped from my memory as well.”

Adam Scott also chimed in, expressing his enthusiasm:

“I couldn’t be more excited to get back to work with Ben, Dan, the incredible cast and crew, Apple and the whole ‘Severance’ team. Oh hey also — not a huge deal — but if you see my innie, please don’t mention any of this to him. Thanks.”
