Seven Weeks In, Still Unstoppable: Hanuman Ansh Just Rewrote the Rulebook for Devotional Cinema

Hanuman Ansh continues its extraordinary theatrical run, collecting approximately Rs 9.50 crore nett on its 7th Saturday — a number that would be impressive for a fresh release, let alone a film nearly two months into its box office journey.

A Box Office Curve Nobody Saw Coming

What makes Hanuman Ansh’s trajectory so remarkable isn’t just the total — it’s the shape of the curve itself. The film opened to a whisper, collecting under a crore in each of its first two weeks, before exploding into blockbuster territory from Week Three onward. That kind of delayed, word-of-mouth-driven surge is exceptionally rare, and it suggests the film built its audience almost entirely through grassroots buzz rather than a big theatrical push.

Even now, seven weeks in, the film is still posting single-day numbers that most new releases would be thrilled with — Rs 5 crore on Friday followed by Rs 9.50 crore on Saturday, signaling genuinely strong repeat viewership rather than a film simply coasting on inertia.

The Road to Rs 300 Crore

With cumulative collections now standing at approximately Rs 245 crore nett, Hanuman Ansh is firmly on pace to cross the Rs 300 crore milestone if its current momentum holds through the rest of its run. For context, the film has reportedly already outpaced other major releases several times over during its sixth week alone, cementing its status as one of the standout theatrical performers of the year.

What the Film Is About

Directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is a biographical devotional drama that traces a grieving young boy’s spiritual journey after losing his mother, following his transformation into the revered saint Neem Karoli Baba. Devotional and spiritual cinema has a long, resilient history within Indian cinema, often defying conventional box office patterns by building audiences gradually through community word-of-mouth rather than opening-weekend hype — exactly the pattern this film appears to be following.
