Returning Series Worth The Wait

The Gentlemen Season 2 headlines the month, bringing Guy Ritchie’s stylish crime-comedy back on September 3 after a long wait. Fauda Season 5 returns even earlier, on September 8, picking up two years after the events of October 7 as Doron gets pulled into a dangerous deep-cover mission in Marseille. Over on the true-crime side, Ryan Murphy’s anthology continues with Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story, arriving September 17 as the fourth installment in the acclaimed series.

Comedy Sequels And Reunions

Fans of comfort comedy are getting spoiled this month. Why Did I Get Married Again? brings Tyler Perry’s original cast back together on September 9 for a wedding that reopens old wounds. The very next day, Call My Agent! The Movie reunites the beloved ASK talent agency crew five years after the French series finale, following Andréa Martel as she scrambles to save her directorial debut. Both promise the kind of nostalgic, character-driven comedy that made their original runs so popular.

Live Sports Takes Over

Netflix continues expanding its live sports footprint this month with two massive events. On September 10, the NFL Melbourne Game brings the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams to Australia for a live broadcast. Then on September 19, boxing legends Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao step back into the ring for a highly anticipated rematch, a fitting complement to the documentary Manny, also joining the library on September 1.

New Original Series And Films

There’s plenty of fresh scripted content too. Best of the Best, arriving September 18, follows two childhood best friends navigating the cutthroat world of competitive Bollywood-fusion dance at UCLA, led by Maitreyi Ramakrishnan and co-written by Hasan Minhaj. A Different World, a reboot of the classic sitcom, premieres September 24 with a new generation reflecting modern campus life. On the true-crime front, Unabomber drops September 25, starring Russell Crowe as Ted Kaczynski in a new take on the notorious case.

Animation fans get a treat too: LEGO ONE PIECE launches September 29, turning the already twice-adapted One Piece franchise into a colorful brick-built spinoff.

The Licensed Movie Library Gets A Massive Boost

September 1 alone brings a flood of beloved films joining Netflix, including the complete Jaws collection, the original Alien and Aliens, Scarface, Straight Outta Compton, T2 Trainspotting, and comfort classics like Sleepless in Seattle, Knocked Up, and Liar Liar. Horror fans also get Smile 2 on September 3 and the complete Resident Evil film collection.

International And Genre Picks

The international slate is especially strong this month. The Doll, a Polish period drama, premieres September 16, while The Final Problem, a Spanish limited series about survivors stranded on an island off Mallorca, arrives September 25. Horror and thriller fans can also look forward to My Sad Dead, an Argentinian miniseries from Pablo Larraín, and Balaraw: Blood Island, a Filipino horror series, both dropping September 24.

Bottom Line

Between major series returns, two massive live sporting events, star-studded comedy sequels, and a huge influx of licensed classics, September 2026 might be Netflix’s most stacked month of the year so far. Whether you’re after nostalgia, true crime, or just a solid action flick, there’s genuinely something new to watch nearly every day this month.
