A Father, a Fighter, a Survivor — Saif Ali Khan Opens Up About the Night He Thought He Would Die

There are moments in life that change everything. For Saif Ali Khan, January 16, 2025 was one of them — and he’s finally telling the full story.

In a raw, deeply personal interview with Barkha Dutt on Mojo Story, the Bollywood actor broke his silence on the terrifying stabbing incident at his Bandra home that shook the nation and left him fighting for his life.

Saif Ali Khan Incident — Key Facts

That Night in His Own Words

Saif recalled how a nanny rushed to alert him about an intruder who had broken in through a bathroom window. The man had entered infant Jeh’s room, was holding the baby, had cut the child slightly, and had also injured the maid while demanding money.

What happened next was pure instinct. Something took over him and he jumped on the intruder. They had a fist fight, and the attacker went at him with his knives, leaving cuts and blood everywhere. Saif’s maid eventually intervened, picking the intruder up and throwing him across the room.

The aftermath was devastating. Saif sustained six stab wounds, including one perilously close to his spine. Dressed in a white kurta pyjama soaked in blood and lying on the floor, he genuinely feared he might not survive.

The Moment That Will Break You

The most heartbreaking part of the entire account wasn’t the blood or the fight — it was his son Taimur.

Saif desperately wanted to be with Taimur and asked him to accompany him to the hospital. His young son looked at him and asked, “Are you going to die?” Saif told him no — and they went to the hospital together.

That image alone says everything about the horror of that night and the extraordinary courage it took to shield his children from the full weight of what was happening.

Forgiveness in the Face of Trauma

Saif expressed a desire to forgive the intruder, believing the man made a huge mistake and wasn’t looking for a fight. He reflected that this was ultimately a story of inequality — of haves and have-nots — but admitted he was still struggling to let go of the part where his attacker tried to kill him. pinkvilla

It’s a remarkably humane response from a man who had every reason for anger.
