If you’ve been refreshing Netflix every week hoping the Bartlett-Fleming family would show up with new episodes, we’ve got news, some good, some “grab a coffee and be patient” energy. Heartland, the long-running Canadian ranch drama, has two fresh seasons already in motion, but Netflix’s rollout isn’t quite as simple as clicking play.

Where Things Actually Stand Right Now

Season 19 already wrapped its home broadcast, and Season 20 is deep in production. The catch is that Heartland is a licensed show, meaning every region gets it on a different timeline depending on local broadcast deals. Here’s the full picture broken down simply.

Season	Status	Netflix Timeline
Season 19	Aired on CBC (Oct 5–Dec 7, 2025)	Already live on Netflix internationally since March 2026
Season 19 (US)	Currently on UP Faith and Family	Expected on Netflix US in early-to-mid 2027
Season 20	In production (May 12–Aug 30, 2026)	Premieres Fall 2026 on CBC; Netflix international likely early-to-mid 2027, US likely 2028

Why the US Is Always Playing Catch-Up

Here’s the part that frustrates American fans the most. Netflix doesn’t hold first-run rights to Heartland in the US; that honor belongs to UP Faith and Family, which begins airing new seasons months, sometimes closer to a year, before Netflix gets its turn. Season 19 started on UPtv back in March 2026, and going by that pattern, US subscribers likely won’t see it on Netflix until sometime between early and mid-2027.

There is a silver lining here, though. Netflix has secured the rights to keep the show streaming in the US through at least September 2028, so there’s no need to panic about another sudden removal scare like fans experienced previously.

International Fans Have It Much Easier

If you’re watching from the UK, Australia, or most regions outside the US, you already have plenty to celebrate. Season 19 landed on international Netflix back in March 2026, months ahead of the American release. The only bummer for long-time viewers abroad is that the earliest seasons (1 through 6) were pulled from international Netflix libraries back in 2022 and haven’t returned since.

What’s Coming in Season 19’s Storyline

Following the dramatic Season 18 cliffhanger, the ranch faces fresh trouble on multiple fronts. Amy is trying to juggle a new relationship with Nathan Pryce alongside her responsibilities as a mother and her professional reputation being tested. Jack finds himself managing a green, inexperienced new ranch hand, and Lou is forced into tough calls to protect the family legacy against a new threat. New faces joining the cast this season include Kamaia Fairburn, Dylan Hawco, and Linda Boyd.

A Milestone Season 20 Is Already Filming

Season 20 marks a huge milestone for the franchise, and filming is currently underway in Calgary, Alberta, running through the end of August 2026 before it premieres on CBC and CBC Gem this fall. There have been unconfirmed rumors swirling that this could be the show’s final season, though nothing has been officially confirmed. Either way, after nearly two decades on air, that would be one heck of a send-off.
