The cosmos has been kind to Ryan Gosling! Project Hail Mary, the highly anticipated sci-fi adaptation of Andy Weir’s bestselling novel, is proving that high-concept space dramas have a dedicated audience in India. As of its second Wednesday, the film has officially crossed the ₹52 crore mark at the Indian box office.
Project Hail Mary Resilience in the Face of Competition
Despite facing a massive domestic wave from the action blockbuster Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, the Ryan Gosling-starrer has maintained an impressive hold. Directed by the visionary duo Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the film’s success is largely attributed to strong word-of-mouth and a surge in demand for premium formats like IMAX and 4DX in urban centers like Mumbai and Bengaluru.
In its 14-day run, the movie added approximately ₹2.40 crore on its second Wednesday, showing only a nominal dip from the previous day. With no major releases scheduled for the upcoming weekend, trade analysts predict the film is on track to reach a lifetime total of ₹75 crore in India.

A Stellar Adaptation
Based on the same author’s work as the hit film The Martian, Project Hail Mary tells the gripping story of Ryland Grace, a scientist who wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of his mission to save Earth. His bond with an alien companion, Rocky, has been hailed by viewers as the “heart and soul” of the movie.
For tech enthusiasts and space nerds, the film’s “hard science” approach combined with Gosling’s charismatic performance makes it a must-watch. If you are curious about more upcoming Hollywood releases and tech-heavy cinema, TechnoSports has you covered with all the latest deep dives.
